Program Description

Educational Talent Search is funded by the Department of Education and is offered by College of Lake County. The post-secondary access program is designed to serve students who are primarily from low-income households and are potential first generation college students interested in attending college. The program also assists participants who do not fit low-income or first generation criteria. The program supports students at Zion-Benton, Waukegan, North Chicago and Round Lake High Schools in Lake County, IL.

Program services include: college exploration, college application assistance, college visits, workshops, tutoring, homework assistance, ACT preparation, career exploration and career shadowing visits, financial aid/FAFSA application assistance, and scholarship search assistance.

Each year more than 800 students are successfully served via the Educational Talent Search Program. The program tracks persistence rates of high school students to graduation. In addition, the college application rate is more than 90% and the enrollment rate typically ranges from 85-94%.
