Program Description

Mission Statement The mission of the Bronx Charter School for Excellence is to prepare young people from New York City to compete for admission to and succeed in top public, private, and parochial high schools by cultivating their intellectual, artistic, social, emotional and ethical development. The school will accomplish this by offering a challenging and rigorous academic curriculum ???¢?? which at the earliest of grades will have an eye towards college preparation. We will achieve this in a supportive and caring environment that all times has high expectations of our students. BCSE College and Career Readiness ???¢?? Grades 6 thru 16 Department of HS Placement & Alumni Services To continue BCSE???¢??s record of success, the Department of HS Placement & Alumni Services was created to ensure scholars are on the right path to achieve excellence. The department is an extension of the college-bound culture of BCSE and provides a roadmap for scholars to explore the options available to them at the secondary and post-secondary levels. The department also allows scholars to broaden their awareness of and explore future career opportunities. We aim to educate current scholars and their families regarding high school options (independent day, boarding, public, and parochial) from the perspective that high school is a stepping stone to the attainment of higher education. The department includes, but is not limited to the following services: ???¢????¢ HS Placement and Advisement ???¢????¢ High school and College tours ???¢????¢ Test Prep for entrance exams for secondary and post-secondary schools ???¢????¢ Academic Support and Regents Prep ???¢????¢ Mentoring and Internships ???¢????¢ Youth development and Leadership retreats ???¢????¢ College and Career awareness We partner with BCSE families to help them navigate the high school admissions process, while also coaching parents on how to successfully support their scholar???¢??s academic achievement. BCSE???¢??s college and career readiness program will support middle school students and alumni through the transition from middle school to high school and ultimately college. This support will provide pathways to various academic and career pursuits.
