Breakthrough Twin Cities helps motivated students overcome adversity to prepare for college with the support of older students passionate about education.
Breakthrough Twin Cities employs a "Students Teaching Students" model of education common to all programs in the Breakthrough Collaborative. During our summer programs and throughout the school year, our college-bound students are supported by college and older high school students through classes, enrichment activities, and 1-1 support.
Breakthrough's model helps under-represented students of color and low-income get to and succeed in college. Given the variety of college access models around the country working toward this goal, much professional research has been conducted to explore which are most effective.
Breakthrough's teaching internship has been rated in the top 10 of college internships nationally by The Princeton Review. Breakthrough's model also attracts diverse, young people to teaching by setting them up for success in their first classroom experience.
