Program Description

The Bickel & Brewer Future Leaders Program (FLP) provides academic resources and leadership training to deserving students from the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). Founded in 2001 by the Bickel & Brewer Foundation, the program has been recognized by the Texas State Board of Education and the Texas Governor's Office, and has now emerged as a national model of public-private partnership. The FLP currently serves almost 300 students from 21 DISD partner schools, and more than 50 FLP alumni. The program is fully funded by the Bickel & Brewer Foundation and is available to the students free of charge. The FLP provides academic resources and leadership development training to select students, ages 10 - 18, from economically challenged neighborhoods in South Dallas, Oak Cliff, and West Dallas. Students are chosen for the FLP based on their scholastic aptitude, school attendance, civic involvement, and leadership potential.
