Program Description

The Baltimore STEM Core is an exciting collaboration between Growth Sector, Baltimore City Public Schools, Baltimore City Community College, The Abell Foundation, and the Fort Meade Alliance. Students entering senior year from Digital Harbor and Forest Park High Schools attending a 5-week program at BCCC including Math 86 (Beginning and Intermediate Algebra), along with employer submitted research projects. Their math class will be co-taught by BCCC and BCPS math faculty. Students will also hear directly from industry professionals about their careers and learn the in's and out's of being a successful college student. During fall and spring, BCCC math faculty will teach dual-credit math courses on-site at the high schools, preparing students to take college Calculus, with a specific degree path in mind, upon high school graduation.
