Talent Search is a member of the TRiO family of programs funded by the Department of Education, Office of Postsecondary Education. This program is currently in its 23rd year of service to students in 10 schools across northeastern Oklahoma. The program is funded to serve 737 junior and senior high school students.
During the school year, guidance specialists meet the students' needs by providing academic counseling, career exploration, and post-secondary planning. Other areas covered are college selection, admission requirements and procedures, financial aid information, tutoring, adventure-based learning, and life skills. Campus tours and career field trips are the highlight of the year for participants.
Students in grades eight through twelve, in target schools, are eligible to participate if they complete the necessary paperwork and meet the eligibility requirements set by the U.S. Department of Education. The desire to graduate high school and pursue a post-secondary education is highly important as well. Talent Search guidance specialists want each student to discover his/her potential and work toward achieving academic and occupational goals. That's what Talent Search is all about!
