Advise TX - University of Texas Austin College Advising Corps

Program Description

Our Mission

College Advising Corps works to increase the number of low-income, first-generation college, and underrepresented high school students who enter and complete higher education.

The University of Texas at Austin Advise TX College Advising Corps founded the Advise TX College Advising Corps program in 2010-2011 with 15 college advisers serving 15 high schools in Houston, San Antonio, and the Rio Grande Valley. In 2019-2020, the program serves 23 high schools with 22 advisers in Central Texas, Dallas, El Paso, Houston and the Rio Grande Valley. In an effort to increase the number of low-income, underrepresented, and first-generation students pursuing higher education, the UT Austin program hires, trains, and places exceptional recent college graduates -- from all fields of study -- to serve as full-time, near-peer college advisers in high schools across the state.
